The process starts when an operator loads a recipe from the console and initiates the batch cycle. At the cycle start, an infeed conveyor moves the part into the cell. Once the part reaches the correct position, the robot is signaled for pick-up, and moves into position. The robot engages its servo-driven gripper to pick up the part. Meanwhile, a servo controlled rotary hearth inside the furnace moves into position. With the robot in position, the flame curtain ignites in order to burn off any combustible atmospheric gases in the furnace, and oxygen, prior to the robot entering the furnace.
When the DentonTSI™ furnace door opens, the robot places the part on the hearth inside the furnace. The door closes and seals, and the flame curtain gas valve also closes. If additional space is available inside the furnace, the robot will move back to the infeed table to load the next part. Once the part has reached the allotted time and temperature set points based on the loaded recipe, the servo-driven hearth positions the part for extraction in front of the door. The FANUC R-2000iB Robot retrieves the hot part and places it in the quench press. The part is quenched for the proper time and with the proper clamping pressure based on the recipe set points to maintain part uniformity.
Once the part is cooled, the robot retrieves it and places it on the part washer conveyor. Quenching fluid is rinsed from the part, and the part is conveyed out of the cell for operator retrieval. A record for all critical process parameters is finalized and used for future reports.
