FANUC LR Mate 200iC Robot Loads the Chiron FLEXCELL UNO Machining Center

The CHIRON FLEXCELL UNO is a compact unit consisting of a machining center and FANUC LR Mate 200iC robot cell as a low-cost solution for fully automated loading and unloading of work-pieces during machining. The FANUC LR Mate 200iC robot swivels into the tray zone and picks up a raw part from the tray. The robot then swivels into the machine, picks up a semi-finished part from the LH machine fixture with its dual gripper and loads the raw part into the LH fixture.

The LR Mate swivels out of the machine and hands the semi-finished part to a re-grip station, which rotates the part 180° so the unfinished side is facing out. Once the part is re-gripped, the robot swivels back into the machine to pick up a completed part from the RH machine fixture and loads the re-gripped part into the RH fixture. The LR Mate swivels out of the machine with the finished part and closes the access door -- This step is cost effective in that it saves from having to use an automatic door. A work-piece changer device for the fixture is used on the machine to allow the parts to be loaded while the machine is running. This ensures maximum throughput from the machine tool.

Once a loading cycle is complete, the FANUC LR Mate swivels into the tray zone and places a first completed part onto the tray. Once the tray is full of completed parts, the FANUC LR Mate is used to transfer the tray back to the stacker the stacker indexes and the FANUC LR Mate pulls the new tray of raw parts to the machine load unload position.
