In this video FANUC Robotics America demonstrates intelligent heavy part machining, showcasing the super heavy-duty and ultra long-reach capabilities of the M-2000iA robot.
The M-2000iA/1200 equipped with iRVision® demonstrates its high capacity payload and long reach in an automated machining process. The robot uses iRVision to locate and pick an unfinished train wheel from a pallet, unloads a finished train wheel from a mock machine tool and loads the unfinished train wheel while changing its wrist orientation. The M-2000iA/1200 then uses iRVision to locate and change end of arm tooling before loading an 2,550 lb. train wheel set from a scale onto a second machine tool.
The rigid arm design of the M-2000iA/1200 has a 1200 kg payload -- or 2,650lbs. This robot includes an option of 1350kg (3000lbs) payload for transferring extremely heavy items such as truck, tractor, and automotive frames, and other large castings. The robot demonstrates its maximum reach and flexibility by rotating and lifting the part in several orientations before placing the part back onto the scale, and the process cycle repeats. DCS Speed and Position Check Software restricts the travel of the robot to the exact area in which it works.
The M-2000iA's ability to handle ultra-heavy parts helps manufacturers meet production requirements, and significantly reduces costs associated with conveyors, lifts and other fixed automation. In addition, the M-2000iA/1200 has the highest payload and the strongest wrist compared to all other electric six-axis robots available today.
