FANUC R-2000iB/210F Automated Truck Wheel Polishing Robot


Acme Manufacturing Company designed this system using two R-2000iB/210F robots to polish the inner diameter and outer diameter sides of two aluminum truck wheels to a mirror finish in one cycle.

A FANUC R-2000iB/210F, equipped with a custom end of arm tool, picks up two forged aluminum truck wheel inner diameter side up from a table and presents the two wheels simultaneously to a custom made polishing machine. The end of arm tool rotates the wheels to perform the cut and color polishing operation.

After the inner diameter polishing process is complete, the first robot places the wheels in a turn table and a second R-2000iB/210F picks and rotates the wheels to polish the outer diameter side.

Using two robots decreases cycle time and increases throughput. The end result is a mirror finish for the wheels.
